Over the last few winters, there has been a noticeable resurgence of companies choosing to return to the long-lost tradition of the Christmas lunch.
Ultimate Experience’s MD, Carly Mitchell, believes that this is down to a number of changes in thinking amongst party organisers and decision makers.
Firstly, companies are now, more than ever before, appreciating the value of staff’s leisure time and the impact on families of late returning colleagues and partners after evening parties.
Added to this is the increased security and ease of travel home for events finishing in the late afternoon or early evening.
Company Directors know that whether they choose a lunchtime or evening event, half a day of work is effectively lost! With either a lunch or an evening event, expecting a good morning’s work following a late finish is unrealistic.
The reduced price of lunchtime events makes them a popular choice, due to both lower demand and reduced alcohol consumption (also a benefit in itself).
Carly Mitchell said: “We even had one client last year who chose to run their party from 4pm to 10pm, which worked well since it still allowed for dancing after an early evening meal and ensure people were home fresher and ready for work the next day.”
Many lunchtime clients replace dancing with a lunchtime quiz or internal awards presentation, though after lunch DJs are still popular with many clients.
The other great benefit of lunchtime celebrations is that there is much greater choice of both venues and dates than for evening parties for those looking to book later in the year.
