This pop up exhibition in gallery@oxo is to celebrate the 45th birthday of Roger Hargreaves’ famous creations. From their birth in 1971, the Mr. Men and Little Misses have enchanted and captured the imaginations of a multigenerational audience through self-expression, colour, simplicity and humour.
Mr Tickle would become the first in the series of ‘Mr. Men’ books which sold a million copies within the first 3 years. In 1974 a number of books were brought to life on the small screen, first broadcast by the BBC and narrated by Dad’s Army actor Arthur Lowe. The first Little Miss books were published in 1981, including the characters Little Miss Bossy, Little Miss Naughty and Little Miss Sunshine.

The playful exhibits are displayed at a child’s scale throughout. Featuring hundreds of memorabilia from the past 45 years, the exhibition celebrates the nation’s favourite Mr. Men and Little Miss characters – it is a must see for any fan!
Fans are able to upload photos of their favourite items to the virtual archive which will be displayed on rolling screens at the exhibition, alongside the physical items. Visitors can also take a trip to ‘Happyland’; a specially created story time library area with all their favourite Mr. Men and Little Miss characters.
There is a personalisation stand where visitors can take home their own personalised print of a Mr Men or Little Miss character as a memento.
