OXO2 is a popular wedding venue in South Bank, and in August 2019 it saw one Bride and Groom unite their two families for the most unforgettable day of their life.
Hitomi and Fran decided to incorporate both their Japanese and Chinese heritage by combining traditions from both cultures to make for a truly unique wedding day, and we couldn’t have been happier to have been a part of it. We spoke to Hitomi and Fran to find out more about their special day, and why they chose to have it at OXO2.
Why did you choose OXO2?
We chose it because the venue is beautiful, the view is great, its spacious and offers some great photo spots like the park and the pier.
How did you find the experience of planning your wedding at OXO2?
The planning process was made very simple by yourselves. You were a great help with planning everything, from food, decoration and arrangement of events. It would have been a very stressful process otherwise.
Tell us more about the traditions you incorporate into the day and what they meant to you?
We decided to incorporate a Japanese and a Chinese tradition which helped to bring the two cultures and guests together. The sake ceremony was a fun event and the tea ceremony is a very traditional Chinese ceremony which was fun for people to see.
What made your day so special?
Everything really, with work and everything I couldn’t spend as much time planning the wedding as I wish I could, but it all came together so well. All the guests really enjoyed themselves, so it all went really well.
What were your top moments of the day?
It would definitely be the best men speech, I was in tears lol. They really helped bring the mood up with the crowd. Other than that, I must say it would be the sake ceremony; it was fun, traditional and everyone was engaged (although we did get the floor a bit wet – sorry!)
Would you recommend OXO2 to future couples planning their wedding?
Definitely, the venue is beautiful, in an iconic location, with a helpful organiser making the whole process relatively stress free and was helpful throughout the night to make sure everything ran smoothly so the bride and groom could relax, and guests could enjoy themselves.
Any further comments?
Thank you very much! I don’t think the day would have been near as magical if we went elsewhere.
