It was all go at OXO2 last week. A wide range of events showed off the versatility of the venue, with weddings, product launches and dinners all taking place at the South Bank space.
Kicking off proceedings was the beautiful wedding of Kate and Craig. The couple got engaged whilst travelling around South East Asia, so wanted to incorporate this into their big day. Decor was inspired by all things Oriental, with lanterns, flowers and trinkets transforming the West Side of the venue. Guests enjoyed Beijing Bellinis and Shanghai Sling cocktails along with a selection of Asian canapés before tucking in to a delicious wedding breakfast.
Sunday and Monday saw a total transformation of the venue, with production crews sweeping through both the East and West Sides giving the venue a complete makeover, from a Christmas grotto at one end to a show home at the other.
Wednesday came with a change of pace as we set up the venue to welcome Child Bereavement UK for a drinks reception, dinner and auction hosted by patron of the charity, Tara Palmer Tomkinson.
A mouth-watering menu included a smoked duck salad starter, succulent roast sirloin main and a dessert of baked lemon tart. After the formalities the black ties could be loosened, and guests enjoyed a series of acoustic performances from a selection of talented singers. To round off the evening a DJ took to the decks.
No rest for the wicked, on Thursday morning the team were back to it for an all-day team building world cup/Brazilian themed extravaganza. After an initial introduction delegates were split into teams to compete in a task to create Brazilian head-dresses which would later see the unlucky volunteers strut their stuff in a fashion show to be crowned the ‘best dressed’. Competition was fierce!
Even the food and drink were given a Brazilian twist for the evening, with speciality canapés including coxinha and bolinho de feijoda, aka chicken pastries with lime aioli and black bean fritters with coriander salsa. Refreshments came in the form of Caipirinha cocktails, with entertainment provided by a Brazilian drum act.
Friday brought some sunshine and a day of rest which gave our events team the chance to re-organise the venue in time for another wedding on Saturday. This time a dry-hire event with external caterers, Greek dancing and a shot bar. Another lovely wedding to round off very successful and exciting week!
