An Iconic Central London Wedding at OXO Tower
On the 6th of August 2017, Natalie and Matt had the wedding of their dreams at OXO2. OXO2 were thrilled to be a part of this special day for Natalie and Matt and to help bring to life their dream of London City wedding! This venue held a very special place in their heart as the couple first met in London City and got engaged at Southbank. Read their London Love Story.
“We met in a bar in Piccadilly Circus. As I walked in, I bumped into a friend who was there with Matt’s crowd. We got chatting and ended up spending the whole time with each other, instead of our groups of friends.”
Several years later…
“The proposal was amazing! We were walking along the Southbank and stopped at Gabriel’s Wharf where he started snapping away. I was looking over at the OXO tower and he called my name. When I turned around, he was on one knee holding a ring. I was so surprised!”
The ceremony was hosted in the East Wing overlooking the River Thames and the London skyline with 100 of their guests. The reception and dinner were served in the West Wing which was decorated with colourful flower arrangements, fairy lights, and coloured lanterns. The space was fitted out for the speeches and then transformed into a nightclub when the sun went down.
Create, our sister company, provided the catering on the day. During the drinks reception, guests were served canapes of Confit Duck Pancake, Grilled Tuna, and Pimm’s Jelly. Then, they were seated for a three-course meal which included Mackerel Niçoise and Tomato and Burrata for starters, Duo of Chicken and Confit Vegetable Terrine for main courses, and Citrus Lemon Tart for dessert.
FullCircle provided the entertainment for the day which included a DJ and Epic Love Story were the photographers. The areas surrounding the venue provided great opportunities for their city wedding photo shoot.
Q&A with the Bride
Why did you choose to have a wedding in the city?
We always wanted a London wedding as we are both from London, I am from the North and Matt is form the South! We also really wanted to have the ceremony and reception in the same venue. Just before Christmas, after I got engaged, I was booked to do manicures for the events team. I came up to OXO2 and fell in love with it!
What was your experience with planning your wedding at OXO2?
Everything was really easy to plan, Harriet was super helpful with ideas and suggestions, and we love how it all came together!
Would you recommend OXO2 as a wedding venue?
Absolutely!! Our friends are still talking about how great the venue (and wedding!) was!
