Where to grab the best grub at the Southbank Centre Food Market

Southbank is the perfect place for a day out with the family, especially now that the summer holidays are upon us. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Southbank Centre plays host to a vibrant food market, offering cuisines from around the globe as well as cocktails, juices and coffee. Here are some of our top picks of the many food stalls available.

Dough Bro
Dough Bro has been a regular at the SC Food Market for around 18 months offering authentic Neapolitan wood fired pizza freshly made on site. While starting up they actually travelled to Italy to learn the art of pizza making and find the best way to make their pizzas. All the ingredients used are Italian but sourced in the UK and they are also planning on opening a restaurant in the near future!

The Ethiopian Coffee Company                                 

Offering hot and iced coffee, The Ethiopian Coffee Company serves only the best coffee sourced from Ethiopia. They are one of the longest residents of SC Food Market, having been there every weekend for the last 5 years! Each week they serve different Arabica coffee beans, which are all roasted in-house and grown organically. They open the earliest of all the stalls, serving coffee from 10am – 8pm, Friday – Sunday.

Chocofruit UK
Chocofruit is a newcomer at the food market but hopes to become a more regular visitor. Offering Belgian chocolate covered fruit with a number of toppings, this is definitely an option for those with a sweet tooth! Chocofruit not only attend food markets but also cater for weddings, parties and corporate events. So if you have an event coming up and would like a fun alternative for dessert, Chocofruit is a great option!

Woodwards Farm
Woodwards farm is near Huntingdon where they rear their own free range beef, pork and lamb. Their cattle are reared traditionally on the grass and wheat produced on the farm. They also sell free range eggs where the hens have twice the area to roam compared to commercial free range hens. The team at Woodwards Farm travel to markets around London throughout the week showing off their amazing produce. They are at SC Food Market every week from Friday – Sunday and serve delicious juicy burgers!

The Curry Shack
The Curry Shack is another regular at the SC Food Market. They offer many varieties of curry, including Indian, Caribbean, Mauritian and Thai, all cooked fresh in huge pans – a spectacle to witness! They are open until 8pm so perfect if you live locally and are having a curry night in with friends or family. The portions are huge and ridiculously flavoursome. Another bonus; if you work locally you will receive £1 off your food, ideal for a quick, delicious lunch!

Elephant Juice Bar
The Elephant Juice bar offers a huge variety of juices. All are made freshly on site and use 100% fresh ingredients – so they are jampacked with vitamins! Ingredients are sourced locally and seasonally where possible to ensure customers get the best flavoured juices possible! As well as the food markets, Elephant juice also provide their services at music festivals and private events. They are at SC Food Market every weekend Friday – Sunday. The phrase Elephant Juice when mimed reads ‘I love you’, so grab some fresh juice and give your body a boost!

Hanks PO’ Boys
Hanks PO’ boys serve classic New Orleans-style sandwiches and are an ever popular choice at the market. Load up on those Cajun and Creole flavours with their indulgent chowder and their loaded fries which are incredible! They have been ranked in Huffington Posts Top 5 Street Food of 2015 as well as Buzzfeed’s 21 Street Foods To Try Before You Die – quite an achievement! For a classic, delicious, American-style sandwich – Hanks is definitely the place to be!

Muffin Man & Co
Have you heard of the Muffin Man? Well you have now – these guys know how to make a muffin! Their pork and bacon jam muffin is to DIE for! They are newcomers to Southbank food market but hope to become a more regular appearance. All their produce is locally sourced – bread from Essex, cheese from Somerset – and all of their conserves are homemade. As well as the muffins, they serve a duck burger which is equally delicious. Fingers crossed they become a fixture!
